Google Adsense ad optimization. (Positioning ad units)

Hello and well come to all Adsense account holder! We all know that it is the most powerful advertising program to monetize a website or blog. But, now a days it is very tough to get approved Adsense. 

I got my Adsense account approved in December last year. Then I started my AdSense journey with two banners and three text links- 

Banners- 120x600 (left side below the archive), and 300x600 ( right side below the Facebook plugin) 

Text links- 468x15 (between posts).

I'm always playing with my Adsense ad's position on my blog in order to get the best results from it (not violating the Adsense policy). 

I've made several changes to my Adsense ad's position from the day of starting but, I got the best result in the April 2nd when I putted some new banner and text links in a new position on my blog. I don't know that you believe it or not- After this change I've earned almost the same amount in just six days which I've earned in the past four months from Adsense.

Here is the changes-

1. New banner 728x90 in top position.
2. New banner 300x250 below the Facebook plugin right side.
3. New banner 160x600 in place of 120x600.
4. New text link 160x90 after the blog topic.

Best working unit is 728x90 and 160x90. I'm not only the one, many blogger are already said that ad unit 728x90, 300x250 and 160x600 are the best performing ad unit.

Calculate more accurate number of pageviews of any website

Today I found that, we can calculate more accurate number of pageviews and unique visitors of any website just using Alexa traffic stats. 

In Alexa stats we can only know about estimated percentage of global page views of a website. That means if we deter the global page views number then, we can easily calculate page view number of any website.


Global page-view: According Wikimedia traffic analysis report for the period of 1st Apr 2011 -31st March 2012 says that monthly page views of English Wikipedia is 11630 million (11630000000). 

But Alexa global page views percentage of www.wikipedia.org is 0.4796 (monthly), 0.4934 (3 month). 

Change of percentage in three month is (0.0934-0.0796)=0.0138. 

So the change of percentage in one month-0.0138/3=0.0046. 

So, accurate percentage of monthly page views is (0.4796+0.0046)=0.4842, or  (0.4934-0046)=0.4888 

that mean nearly-0.4860.

Actual calculation is- Global page view=(100/0.4860)*11630000000 = 2,393,004,115,226 (apx).

Now we have global page views per month is 2,393,004,115,226.

Let's try to calculate TechCrunch.com recently monthly page view-

Alexa global page views percentage- 1 month-0.00772%. Last 3 month-0.00697%.  

Change in percentage in three month-(0.00772-0.00697)=0.00075

Average change-0.00075/3=0.00025

Actual average percentage of global monthly page views is- 

(0.00697+0.00025)=0.00722 or (0.00772-0.00025)=0.00747

Comparing tow results we get -0.00735% (actual result of Alexa monthly page view percentage)

So, actual average monthly page views of TechCrunch.com is (0.00735*global page view)/100

=(0.00735*2393004115226)/100

=175885802.469

Average unique visitor: According Alexa in three month average unique pageviews per user is nearly 2.035

Therefore, Unique visitor of TechCrunch.com is =(total page view per month/ average unique page view per user)

= 175885802.469/2.035

=86430369.76  

Formula-

1. Find out one month and three month page views percentage from Alexa.
2. Calculate the average change of page view percentage in three month. Follow the calculation above.
3. For actual monthly page views, add the result with one month percentage and subtracts the same result from three month percentage. Then take the average result.
4. Now put your result in this formula =(actual monthly page views (%)* 2,393,004,115,226)/100  

In this way you can calculate any website page views..
